How to value your Pokémon cards
A simple way to work out what a Pokémon card is worth: identify it exactly, judge its condition, then check recent sold prices.
Working out what a card is worth comes down to three steps.
1. Identify the exact card
The same Pokémon can have many cards. Check:
- Set and number: the number at the bottom (for example 4/102) and the set symbol.
- Printing: holo, reverse holo or normal, and 1st edition or unlimited for older sets.
- Language: prices differ by language.
Search Pokedeck by name or scan the card, then pick the exact printing.
2. Judge the condition (or the grade)
For raw cards, be honest about condition; see our guide to conditions. For graded cards, use the grade on the slab.
3. Look at real prices
- Sold prices show what people actually paid recently.
- Market prices (TCGplayer, Cardmarket) are updated daily for near-mint cards.
- Live listings show what sellers are asking right now. Asking prices are usually higher than sold prices.
Use sold prices first, then market prices. Treat asking prices as an upper bound.
Track it
Add the card to My Cards to see your collection's value, and set a price alert to hear when it moves.
